Welcome! Welcome to the Land of Imaginary Cats! I'm your guide and I hope to teach you all about those fantastical, fictional felines who creep in and out of our favorite movies, books, cartoons, comics, songs, legends, stationery, and oh, so much more. I'll try to stick to pretend kitties, but the occasional real cat might sneak its way in, if it seems to be a particularly relevant muse (mews? I'm not averse to horrible cat puns!) to a particularly relevant creator. Thank you for visiting! I'm so happy you're here!

Faerie Tale Theatre: Puss in Boots (1984)

Cover for the DVD Release

This cover gives plenty of information, but just in case you need to know a little more, here's the trailer:

Allmovie.com says:

"Ben Vereen stars as the clever title character in this delightful episode of Shelley Duvall's made for cable series Faerie Tale Theatre. A quick-witted talking cat dons boots, a cloak, and a hat in order to carry out his plan to turn his master -- a poor peasant played by Gregory Hines -- into a nobleman. In the process, the cat and his master must defeat an angry ogre and win the heart of a beautiful princess Alfre Woodard."

From Shelley Duvall's Faerie Tale Theatre series, this episode (Season 4, Episode 6) features Ben Vereen, Gregory Hines, and Alfre Woodard. IMDB lists the complete cast.

It was written by Jules Feiffer, the award-winning cartoonist, author, playwright, and screenwriter who also wrote the screenplay for Robert Altman's Popeye.
