Welcome! Welcome to the Land of Imaginary Cats! I'm your guide and I hope to teach you all about those fantastical, fictional felines who creep in and out of our favorite movies, books, cartoons, comics, songs, legends, stationery, and oh, so much more. I'll try to stick to pretend kitties, but the occasional real cat might sneak its way in, if it seems to be a particularly relevant muse (mews? I'm not averse to horrible cat puns!) to a particularly relevant creator. Thank you for visiting! I'm so happy you're here!

"Toonces, Look Out!"

Well, if you want to know a LOT about Toonces, you can check out his Wikipedia page or you can read this blog. But, for those of you who've never seen him, he's a gray cat character from Saturday Night Live who loves to drive even though he's very, very terrible at it. His first appearance was in a skit with Steve Martin and Victoria Jackson on May 20, 1989. I couldn't find that video on Youtube, so I'm linking to a different appearance, "Toonces Without a Cause," a parody of "Rebel Without a Cause."

Did NBC really give a puppet cat a half hour show? They did! But it only lasted one episode.
