Yesterday, we talked about The Shy Little Kitten.  The illustrator for that book was not only influential on the style of the early Little Golden Books, he also greatly influenced the look of the early Disney films (Snow White, Pinocchio, and more).  The Animation Archive tells the full story of his break with Disney and his subsequent simplified (by his standards) style. 

The article shows artwork from his Tell It Again book and they include some beautiful little cats, including the witch's cat from Hansel and Gretel and a bit of an illustration from Puss In Boots.  Have a look and check out the links.  They're so lovely.

Adorably illustrated by Gustaf Tenggren, The Shy Little Kitten is included in most Little Golden Book classic collections and of course has a very special home in the land of imaginary cats.
