Welcome! Welcome to the Land of Imaginary Cats! I'm your guide and I hope to teach you all about those fantastical, fictional felines who creep in and out of our favorite movies, books, cartoons, comics, songs, legends, stationery, and oh, so much more. I'll try to stick to pretend kitties, but the occasional real cat might sneak its way in, if it seems to be a particularly relevant muse (mews? I'm not averse to horrible cat puns!) to a particularly relevant creator. Thank you for visiting! I'm so happy you're here!

Nagagutsu o haita neko (1969)

From the trivia:

  • The chase scenes in Lucifer's Castle were animated by Hayao Miyazaki and Yasuo Ôtsuka.

  • The main character, Pero the cat, was so popular he eventually became the mascot of Toei Animation.

Hayao Miyazaki is credited as the lead animator for this film.  He's well-known these days for films such as Princess Mononoke, Howl's Moving Castle, Ponyo, and My Neighbor Totoro.

And check out this lovely poster for the film!
